Returning Student Admissions

Welcome home! No matter how long you’ve been away, it’s never too late to finish your education.

If one or two semesters have passed since you left (with the exception of summer terms), please contact your academic advisor.

If you haven’t enrolled in IUPUI courses for one year or more, you will need to reapply (admission fee waived) through the IUPUI Office of Admissions. Please refer to IUPUI’s dates and deadlines for returning students prior to applying for admission. Once you’ve applied, you can check your application status.

Returning students new to the Luddy Indianapolis are invited to apply for admission.

Returning students are assessed on a case-by-case basis depending upon past credits, transcripts and desired course of study.

Returning after academic dismissal

Students who have been dismissed from any Indiana University campus are not eligible to enroll in any courses until they have been readmitted. Students who are dismissed for the first time must sit out for a minimum of one regular (fall or spring) semester and petition by the below deadlines to be eligible for readmission. Students dismissed two or more times must remain out of school for two regular (fall and spring) semesters and petition by the below deadlines to be eligible for readmission. Readmitted students may only begin in either the fall or spring semester.

If you have been academically dismissed from the Luddy Indianapolis, you must complete a readmission petition. Please be aware of potential curricula changes. If you’ve been gone less than two years, you will return to your original program curriculum. If it’s been two or more years, you will be readmitted under the current curriculum.

Readmission petition deadlines

  • Fall: July 15
  • Spring: November 15

How to apply for readmission

  1. Complete the readmission petition.
  2. Meet with a Luddy Indianapolis Advisor
  3. Complete any necessary requirements determined by your advisor (testing, workshop participation, career counseling, etc.)

If you are a former IUPUI student and have been out for two are more semesters (excluding summer), you will also need to complete the returning student application with IUPUI Admissions.
