In-Person Freshman and Transfer Student Scholarships
We offer several scholarships to incoming freshmen and transfer students. You’ll be considered automatically for many of them when you apply to IUPUI.
Many of the scholarships are renewable. To maintain eligibility, you must continue to be an Luddy Indianapolis major and maintain full-time status by taking 12 or more credit hours each semester. If you switch to a major outside of the Luddy Indianapolis at any time during the award period, your scholarship will be rescinded. Your cumulative GPA at the end of each semester must meet the requirement for your particular scholarship (listed below).
Beyond our scholarships there are opportunities for federal grants and loans for which you may qualify by completing your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA will also help determine your eligibility for work study. IUPUI also offers scholarships to incoming freshmen and transfer students.
DACA students are not eligible for these scholarships and should visit daca.iu.edu for additional information on tuition residency and scholarship information.

Reduced tuition for nonresidents
Midwest Student Exchange Program
The Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP) significantly reduces out-of-state tuition—to 150% of in-state tuition—for students from participating states. The program automatically covers all entering and current out-of-state students. A similar program, the Michigan Student Excellence Award, applies to undergraduate Michigan residents.
Student Excellence Awards for Illinois, Kentucky, and Michigan residents
Undergraduate residents of Illinois, Kentucky, and Michigan who are admitted to IUPUI for the fall 2022 term (or later) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 will receive our Student Excellence Award. Similar to the Midwest Student Exchange Program, these will be automatically awarded at the time of admission, and provide students with an award accounting for a 55% reduction in nonresident tuition.
