  • This course covers the signs, symptoms, and functional changes in each body system caused by diseases, focusing on the drugs used in treatment.

    Learning Outcomes

    1. Analyze the etiology, signs, and symptoms of diseases within the body.
    2. Evaluate the appropriate treatment for each medical condition.
    3. Analyze the medications used to treat diseases in each body system.
    4. Identify how the body processes drugs and the conditions that may impede this process.
    5. Apply common abbreviations and the components of medication orders in the medical record.
    6. Differentiate between the generic, brand name, official name, trade name, and chemical names of drugs.
    7. Identify the different methods of drug administration.
    8. Calculate safe drug dosages.
    9. Describe the different types of injections including intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular.
    10. Identify the five schedules of controlled substances.
    11. Explain the appropriate treatment for a patient who has been poisoned.
