This course covers the theory and practice of complex sound design in digital media, including how to navigate the issues and decisions facing the sound designer, as well as an understanding of DSP (digital signal processing) and sound effects techniques in designing audio for diverse types of new media applications. Students will: perform location sound recording and editing; execute successful implementation of digital signal processing for sound FX and synchronization of audio to video Davinci Resolve Fairlight; analyze and understand the functions of sound effects and sonic branding; create multiple multi-track recordings with dialogue, music, and sound effects.
