Description
Introduction to the principles, mechanisms, policies, and implementation for computer security; learn how attacks are carried out, how to defend against attacks, and how to design systems to withstand them.
Learning Outcomes
- Apply the fundamental concepts of cybersecurity to providing system security.
- Describe potential system attacks and actors who might perform them.
- Repel attacks by using cyber defense tools, methods, and components.
- Determine the appropriate measures to be taken in case of system compromise.
- Write a security policy to enable security mechanisms following cybersecurity principles.
- Analyze common security failures and identify specific design principles that have been violated.
- Identify design principles involved or needed in a specific scenario.
- Weight the costs and benefits of security vs. system usability.
