The Department of Human-Centered Computing (HCC) was founded on July 1, 2013 within the new Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering on the Indianapolis campus. As the largest department in the school, HCC is home to a dynamic and interdisciplinary community of faculty and students who bring together strong research and education expertise in informatics, emerging media and human-computer interaction (HCI) to advance interdisciplinary research at the forefront of human-centered computing innovation.
The areas of study in the programs within the Department of Human-Centered Computing focus on the design, and broader implications of computing technology in different social, cultural, political, and organizational contexts. They explore creative ideas, theories, and modern technologies that enhance our understanding of the complex and increasingly influential relationships between people and computing.
The Department offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Informatics, Media Arts and Science, Human-Computer Interaction, and Data Science.
