Interactive Intelligence Foundation supports iDEW summer program with $50,000 grant

February 16, 2016

The Interactive Intelligence Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable corporation that fosters life improvements for at-risk youth, has awarded a $50,000 grant to support the Informatics Diversity-Enhanced Workforce (iDEW) 2016 summer program.

The award makes possible the continued engagement of iDEW students from Indianapolis high schools by providing them access to the summer workshops series at the IU School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI.

The summer workshops for iDEW high school students offer hands-on, interactive learning experiences led by School of Informatics and Computing faculty. The workshops build students’ technology skill sets in the areas of programming, animation, visual effects, 3-D printing, game design, virtual reality, and health information project management.

The iDEW initiative, which includes programs in high schools and at the School of Informatics and Computing, addresses local and national IT and informatics workforce needs through community partnerships—attracting diverse high school students to informatics subjects through innovative and engaging programs, mentorship support, and the development of skills and knowledge that will prepare them for future technology careers.
