Nearly 30 undergraduate and graduate informatics students enjoyed networking with a top official from St. Vincent Health during a recent School of Informatics and Computing formal company information session.
Brian Beaman, a School of Informatics and Computing alumnus and project manager for St. Vincent Health, discussed current and future employment opportunities with the health care provider, and accepted resumes from students while networking after his presentation.
This is the third networking event of its kind since Fall 2011 at the school. Similar presentations have been given by Kronos Incorporated (Indy Tech Center) and the Telamon (Healthcare) Corporation during Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. Students who participate in these events have a unique opportunity to showcase personal skill sets and get the chance to have one-on-one conversations with industry employers.
“These networking sessions are a win-win for students and employers,” said Beth Haggenjos, director of career services for the School of Informatics and Computing. “They provide students with the opportunity to speak face-to-face with top employers and to get their resume into the hands of the people who do the hiring. Employers are able to provide information about their company to our best and brightest students who are looking for internships and jobs.”
Haggenjos is working with other employers to schedule networking sessions with students. Employers interested in scheduling a session should contact Haggenjos at bmhaggen@iu.edu or (317) 278-4143.
