Biography

Lois Ann Scheidt is an instructor, researcher, and small businesswoman. Her teaching focuses on Informatics and Library Science. Along with teaching at IUPUI, she also teaches for the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and has taught at Indiana University Bloomington, Kent State, and the University of Kentucky. She has taught courses in data science, information/technology and ethics, and librarianship topics.

Scheidt’s research focuses on adolescents use of the internet for social purposes, particularly social media. Her groundbreaking research on blogs examines aspects of adolescent online identity and human-computer interaction. She also has conducted program evaluation research for not-for-profit entities in Indiana.

Prior to returning to university for her Ph.D. work, Scheidt served as a human resources professional in federal and state government as well as the private sector. Her final human resources position was as a regional human resources manager for a U.S. manufacturer.

She also is CEO of a small business that specializes in college completion and job preparedness coaching for university students with disabilities.

Scheidt holds a B.S. in Theatre from Ball State University, an MPA in Human Resources and Labor Management from IUPUI, and both a Ph.D. and an M.I.S from Indiana University Bloomington.​
