Graduate Scholarships

Admissions-based Scholarships & Fellowships

You must continue to be a Luddy Indianapolis major for the duration of the scholarship award period. If you switch to a major outside of Luddy Indianapolis at any time during the award period, your scholarship will be rescinded.

Master’s Student Scholarships

Students who meet criteria for admission to our Applied Data Science, Bioinformatics, Health Informatics, or HCI master’s programs will be considered for an admission-based scholarship.

Ph.D. Fellowships

We offer fellowships to qualified, full-time Ph.D. students. To be automatically considered for a fellowship, Ph.D. applicants must submit their application by the deadline.

How to Apply

  1. Take a look at the opportunities and requirements listed for your major.
  2. Log in and complete the general application. Unless otherwise noted, students must complete the IUPUI general application by March 15. We will contact qualified applicants after March 15 and ask them to submit a personal statement in order to be fully considered for the scholarship.
  3. Then search for the opportunity for which you want to apply and complete the application for that scholarship. Submit all required information as noted in the application (FAFSA, letter of recommendation, essay, etc). Each scholarship may have different application requirements.

 

John R. Gibbs

$1,000 per year
3.5 or higher GPA

One award is granted annually either to a full-time undergraduate student or a full-time graduate student, to encourage innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. The student must have a record of academic excellence. Preference is given to those who have demonstrated or expressed a stated interest in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Luddy Indianapolis offers hourly employment opportunities to many full-time, qualified bioinformatics students pursuing a master’s degree. In accepting the school’s offer for financial support, hourly employees commit to 5-10 hours of work per week under the direction of a designated faculty member.​

In addition, full-time students receive scholarships ($9,000 non-resident and $2,000 resident).

Ruth Walker Health Informatics Scholarship

$800 per year
3.0 or higher GPA

This scholarship is open to full-time students who have a record of academic excellence. Preference will be given to student who have an undergraduate degree in Health Information Management from Indiana University.

David R. and Dorotha W. Oliver Graduate Scholarship

Variable amount per year
3.5 or higher GPA

This scholarship is awarded to Masters of Library and Information Science students with a record of academic excellence. It was established by the children of IU alumni David and Dortha Oliver, 1964 and 1967 graduates, respectively. Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Preference will be given to returning students and/or students with interest in public school librarianship.

Other requirements (see application for details): Students are automatically matched and considered for the scholarship. There is no essay or letter of recommendation required.

Keith C. Kuhn Tri-State Scholarship

3.0 or higher GPA

This scholarship is awarded to Masters of Library and Information Science students who are from the Tri-State area (southeast Indiana, southwest Ohio, and northern Kentucky). Keith C. Kuhn was a 1976 MLS graduate; he also served as President of the ILS Alumni Board for several years. He was the Head of Public Services in the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, OH. The recipients will have completed a minimum of 6 credit hours in the program and have an excellent record of academic achievement with a minimum of 3.0 GPA.

Other requirements (see application for details): Students are automatically matched and considered for the scholarship. There is no essay or letter of recommendation required.

Spectrum Scholarship

$5,000 per year

Spectrum recruits and provides scholarships to American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino and Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander students to assist individuals interested in obtaining a graduate degree and leadership positions within the Library and Information Science profession and the American Library Association (ALA) organization.

Apply by March 1
